The iTunes App Store is an amazing and unique opportunity for independent software developers to create and publish their own applications. Apple, for the small price of $99, gives you amazingly powerful tools that are unheard of in the mobile industry. But with that comes no help with marketing at all, no help with customer service, PR, billing, finance, release planning, or project management. All things that are vital to the success of any commercial software project. That’s where we come in.

148Apps.biz is an information resource for the community, by the community. We are giving developers a place where they can publish articles on any topic having to do with the business side of the app store for others to read, share, and comment on. Our hope is that developers will share with others knowledge in their specific areas of expertise so that we, as a community, can make better applications.

We are going to continue to grow 148Apps.biz to be the premiere destination for iPhone app developers, publishers, marketers, financiers/managers. You, our community, are a big part of that. We want to know what you want to see on the site. We want to make this site the best possible, one that fulfills the needs of the community.

2008 Best App Ever Awards

The 2008 Best App Ever Awards is the first iPhone OS Application achievement awards to recognize the best iPhone apps and games released in the iTunes App Store during the past year. Our goal is to help publicize the very best apps available, not just the best-selling apps. There are multiple award categories covering both apps and games.

BrewingBuddy

A beer recipe calculation tool, brewing helper, and social recipe sharing application all on the iPhone.

BrewingBuddy helps you formulate a beer recipe to a particular style or your own style.  Add ingredients and see how they change the formulation of the beer.  When you are ready to brew, BrewingBuddy will help by being your timekeeper.  Have a great recipe you want to share?  BrewinBuddy will let you share that with anyone via our recipe trading site. BrewingBuddy will also help you by keeping tons of great brewing reference information right at your fingertips.

BrewingBuddy will be available in the iTunes AppStore soon after launch and will be free.

Update (7/22): Development is taking longer than anticipated.  Currently looking at an launch of the end of August.  Will post soon about joining a closed beta test of the app.

Update (9/2): I want to thank everyone for the overwhelmingly positive comments about this application — and it’s not even out yet.  I’m still working on it, but real work (aka paid work) has gotten in the way.  So I’m resisting putting another date on the release that I will likely miss.  I’ll just say that I’ll get it out as soon as I can.  Very sorry for the delay but I hope you all understand.

Update (6/12/2009): Unfortunately, I’ve had to put this app on permanent hold. If you are an iPhone developer and would like to take it and run with it, please do.
